Program structure
The MScCCF program extends over three semesters. After the first two semesters in Switzerland, students have the opportunity for the third semester to take part in an exchange program at a partner university.
Module 1 and 2
The content of the first two modules includes a range of courses focused on the basic subject areas of the MScCCF, i.e. financial accounting, management control, corporate finance, external auditing and taxation. The courses are a continuation of the courses offered in the Bachelor program and assume the student's knowledge already acquired in these respective fields.
Module 3
In the third module, students study the core disciplines of the program with a more academic approach in order to prepare themselves for writing their dissertation.
Courses
Elective courses include subjects such as accounting and financial markets, accounting decisions, earnings management, creative accounting & financial scandals, auditing financial institutions, international contracts, etc.
Thesis
The program is completed no later than January of the second year. At this stage, MScCCF graduates will be able to take on important assignments in the areas of financial accounting, management control, corporate finance, auditing and corporate taxation, to write high-quality professional reports and to discuss advanced research topics enabling them to position themselves in the job market or to pursue doctoral studies at any leading university.

A typical 6-credit course represents 6 hours of lectures and supervised exercises per week, over a 14-week semester. Students should allow up to 2-3 additional hours per week for individual preparation.

Courses for the "expertise-comptable" diploma
Some courses offered by the MScCCF are necessary to obtain the equivalence for the federal diploma of "expert-comptable". If you fail one of these exams but still pass the module, you have the option of retaking the failed exam. A separate profile is created for this purpose. Please contact hecmaster@unil.ch during the exam registration periods.
If you have passed your MScCCF, are no longer registered at UNIL and wish to retake failed subjects for the "expertise-comptable", you must register as an auditor.
