Timetables and courses
Information relating to timetables and study programmes may be found on the display boards of the 2nd floor (lifts) of the Internef building as well as on our web page. A network of television screens provides regular updates about timetable changes and other useful information.
Masters' timetables and courses
Program content
The MScIS program includes a total of three semesters. Courses take place at HEC Lausanne and at the University of Neuchâtel. After successfully completing the first semester, students can chose to participate in an exchange program in another university.
First and second semesters
Subjects cover both information technology and management techniques. 5 courses (30 credits) have to be chosen in each of the two areas below:
- Engineering of Information Systems
Courses include topics such as: Introduction to Distributed Systems, Integration of Information Systems, Heuristic and Collective Intelligence, Data warehousing, Emerging Distributed Architectures, Analysis, Modeling and Design, Data Mining.
- Management of Information Systems
Courses include topics such as: IT Strategy and Policies, Project Management and Outsourcing, E-Business, Decision Support Systems, Knowledge Management, Cybercrime and Security, Information Systems Audits.
Research or internship thesis (third semester)
The students' time in the last semester is dedicated to their Master's thesis.
Work and credit allocation
The 90 ECTS credits of this Master's program are allocated as follows:

30 credits for the Master's thesis
A typical 6-credit MScIS course represents 4 hours of lectures and group work per week, over a 14-week semester. Students should allow up to 3 additional hours per week per course for individual preparation and revision.
